Still, Alejandra and surprisingly had a great time at old Timmy Horton's, where we sat for what must have been close to two hours, sipping on coffee, shootin the breeze and sharing stories. This started off with a stop in Tim Horton's (a wanna be Dunkin Donuts) Sorry Canada but it's true. What a start to my vacation, "eh".įortunately, no puking took place for the rest of the trip, and a whole bunch of fun activities did! Day two was what I love to do most in a new place, spontaneously walk around and whatever happens happens. And so, I puked halfway through the bathroom door. That feeling that the inevitable is about to happen, that feeling of vomit racing north through the esophagus before you have a chance to even grasp what is happening. Not long after bitterly eating the green muck that was the frozen spinach pizza, I felt that terrible feeling that should be printed as a warning on the pizza box. Made an undeniable terrible decision on that one.

We and I say we because the frozen spinach pizza was a joint decision (our first choice was bacon and eggs.how did we blow that one!?)

Note to self: do not ever by frozen pizza with spinach as a topping and never ever heat said pizza in the microwave and never ever ever eat hot mushy microwaved spinach pizza. We proceeded to walk some more around the city but both feeling exhausted, possibly because of the overcast skies and rain, we decided to call it an early night but not before stopping to get some groceries. There we shared a plate of lasagna and some exotic salad concoction a odd pairing but it worked. There I met up with Alejandra, my friend, my travel companion, my.Sacagawea? Well, you get the point! We promptly made our way out into the city and headed straight for Granville Island, which is a hip, artists enclave, which local mom and pop shops and a sweet market, similar to Reading Terminal of Philadelphia for those fortunate enough to be familiar with Reading Terminal. At that point, I didn't even care, I was just happy to be there! I did eventually land, and to no one's surprise, it was cloudy and drizzling. Everybody seems to unite under the common ground of disapproval. I was able to make some friends in the airport which seems to happen naturally in crisis moments such as plane delays. Some pillows and blankets were provided by the airport, and honestly I slept quite well.that is until people started arriving at the airport shortly after 4 AM and promptly putting an end to my airport sleep. Long story short, my flight was delayed and I subsequently missed my connecting flight, forcing me to sleep on the floor in the airport. Little did I know, a wicked Canadian cold front was just about to engulf the lovely city of Toronto, the very same place where my connecting flight was. Things started off great as I headed straight from work to the airport on a sunny Friday afternoon in February. Yes, the cold weather played a frustrating role in my travel to V-Town. Note to self: do not travel north during cold weather season. Ironic? A little, but what else is one to do for President's Day weekend!? I'm a little late on this, but a while back I made the long trek to Canada's west coast to celebrate America's President's Day. It was a long time coming, and there is much, much more to see but phase one is complete. If you didn't get it by now, I'm referring to the Pacific Northwest, Vancouver in particular. I finally made it, the last frontier, the "wet coast".
